Driven by the goal of improving reading skills among young learners, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) gathered 100 tutors and 50 Youth Development Workers (YDW) for a five-day TaraBasa training and Pre-deployment Orientation at South East Asian Institute of Technology, Inc. (SEAIT), equipping them to become catalysts of change in their respective communities. The capability-building program marks the first-ever implementation of the TaraBasa Tutoring Program in the area, bringing together a total of 150 participants for intensive preparation in literacy instruction and community engagement. The initiative aims to address reading gaps among elementary learners while empowering youth to take active roles in nation-building. Throughout the five-day training, participants underwent a series of lectures, workshops, and collaborative activities focused on effective teaching strategies, child development, and reading intervention techniques. Tutors were trained to deliver structured reading sessions, while Youth Development Workers were equipped with skills in monitoring learnersโ progress and supporting program implementation at the community level. Much content was scattered across social media or limited to physical copies that could easily be lost. This showed the need for a dedicated platform the publication truly ownsโone where articles won't disappear under social media algorithms," Orrica said. October 15 โ South East Asian Institute of Technology, Inc. (SEAIT) College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) successfully soft launched the FARB Billing and Payment Monitoring System, in collaboration with FARB Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), on October 15, 2025. CICT studentsโLemuel T. Bantillo Jr., Zyle Butil, and Nigel Caresse A. Campomanesโhave developed the FARB Billing and Payment Monitoring System as part of their capstone project to address the challenges faced by FARB Multi-Purpose Cooperative. "Our system aimed to solve the challenges of manual billing summaries, hand-delivered Statements of Account (SOA), manually recorded sales invoices, difficulty tracking payment status due to lack of real-time monitoring, and clients missing payment deadlines due to absence of automatic notifications, resulting in overdue balances and additional workload for receivable clerks," said Campomanes. The FARB Billing and Payment Monitoring System includes key features such as automated billing summary generation from employee work records, automatic creation and email delivery of Statements of Account (SOA) seven days before the due date, accurate and consistent sales invoice recording with validation, a real-time dashboard for payment tracking, and automated email reminders to clients with overdue balances. These capabilities work together to enhance the accuracy of records, ensure timely communication, and simplify monitoring of client payments. The project was supported and guided by Reginald S. Prudente, MIT, College Dean and Subject Adviser, with Ms. Emelita O. Tan, Admin Officer of FARB MPC. Their guidance was crucial in helping the students enhance their IT skills and develop a system that is both efficient and reliable. "Through this project, we improved our ability to design and develop automated solutions that address real-world operational challenges," Campomanes added. This project highlights SEAIT CICT's dedication to developing practical IT competencies, showing how capstone initiatives promote real-world innovation through IT solutions that enhance operational efficiency and growth for enterprises such as FARB MPC.

Becoming older does not equate to knowing betterโI realized that far too early in my younger years. The common stereotype that age automatically brings wisdom proves to be a misconception. Our intellect is shaped not by the number of years we carry, but by the experiences we survive. Regardless of age or time, people are molded by the environments they endure, learning to thrive through what they have been forced to overcome. โYou are too wise for your own age.โ Eight words that echoed in my mind, constantly reminding me of how I am often perceived. Both a compliment and a burden I never asked to carry. To be mature at a young age is often praisedโit suggests intellect, reliability, and trustworthiness. Yet rarely do people pause to ask what circumstances demanded such maturity in the first place. There are moments in life when we are faced with choices that permanently alter our paths. Some decisions require sacrifice, while others demand strength beyond what is expected. For some, maturity arrives not through choice, but through necessity. One often matures too quickly when responsibility is passed down like an inheritance too heavy for a child to bear. With no alternative, a child learns to shoulder obligations they never asked for, growing up faster than they should, learning resilience before learning play. โYou act so childish.โ It is both a blessing and a curse to develop the mind of someone far older than their years. Yet, wouldnโt it be nice ifโfor onceโI were given the chance to truly enjoy childhood in its fullness? The freedom I now possess took years to obtain, a privilege granted too late, long after the age when it was meant to be lived. January 25, 2026 โ Grounded in the principles of discipline, democracy, and responsible leadership, the Constitutional Convention (ConCon) gathered delegates and student leaders of South East Asian Institute of Technology, Inc. (SEAIT) for a full-day assembly centered on parliamentary procedure, governance, and constitutional practice at the Conference Hall of the MSWDO Building.. The convention formally opened with the registration of delegates, followed by preliminary activities. Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Niรฑo Lito C. Fuderanan, Supreme Student Council (SSC) President, who set the tone for a purposeful and orderly assembly. This was followed by the Statement of Purpose delivered by Mr. Arnel Vince E. Saladero, highlighting the significance of participatory leadership. Mr. John Mark Rufino, MPA, LYDO Head, then delivered a message of support, urging delegates to uphold integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership throughout the convention. The morning session featured a seminar led by Hon. Clyde L. Almaden titled โInside the Convention Hall: Leadership, Experience, and the Proper Conduct of a Constitutional Convention.โ The discussion provided delegates with real-world insights into effective leadership, ethical decision-making, and the responsibilities of constitutional delegates. In the afternoon, delegates participated in โDeliberation with Discipline: Applying Parliamentary Procedure in Constitutional Assemblies,โ facilitated by Resource Speaker Andrei John F. Ruba. The session emphasized the importance of order, structure, and fairness in legislative discussions, reinforcing the value of discipline in democratic processes.
